MV BOUDICCA AT PORTIMAO FOR THE FIRST TIME

The 22sd of July was to be a date to remember, my first contact with this beautiful port, two cruise ships in a day to photograph,  not common in this part of the world, met ships enthusiast Antonio Silva, contributor of http://portimaocruises.blogspot.com a blog not to be missed, all this supported by a proper hot summer´s day so common in the Algarve, the first cruise ship was the BOUDICCA built in 1973 as the ROYAL VIKING SKY, today owned and operated by FRED OLSEN CRUISE LINES, this was to be a maiden call for the ship, local authorities are working to dredge the port in order to attract bigger tonnage because for the moment only ships up to 245 metres in lenght are allowed to negotiate the harbour and dock safely, it would be a shame if this wasn´t to happen not just for economical reasons but also to promote this amazing port, local tourism even further and  of course the cruising industry in Portugal
