FORMER PORTUGUESE COD FISHING VESSELS
I was really pleased to have the opportunity to photograph two former fishing vessels of the famous portuguese white fleet, sailing vessels employed on the cod fishing, the SANTA MARIA MANUELA built in 1937 in Portugal and recently rebuilt to her former glory and the ARGUS built in Holland two years later, vessel recently acquired by the same company in Aveiro, northern Portugal, the shipowner PASCOAL. The photos shown here first the SMM two days before embarking on a two and a half month trip to Canada and the Azores, and the ARGUS still seen here with her former name POLYNESIA, good to see that both ships are in good hands and the ARGUS recovery is under way with the ship just been released from dry dock, photos near Aveiro on the 17th of April 2011.
