"A tree so big that its shadow would cover Normandy and England", History on board MONT ST MICHEL

In 1027 WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR was born at Falaise in Normandy, legend has it that his mother, Herleva, had a dream the night he was conceived, the dream was, "a tree would grow out of her body, so large that its shadow would cover both Normandy and England". BRITTANY FERRIES "MONT ST MICHEL" at Gdansk for a refit

BF "MONT ST MICHEL" built in 2002 is undergoing a refit in POLAND, the second daily departure on the Ouistreham to Portsmouth service is now covered by "ARMORIQUE". "MONT ST MICHEL" is due back on the service in early February. Photos included, "MONT ST MICHEL" in June 2011 and "ARMORIQUE" at her berth also in Portsmouth in February last year

Back on board "NORMAN SPIRIT" last week

I was once again back on board "NORMAN SPIRIT" for the night crossing from Portsmouth to Le Havre, the day after I would board another LD LINES ship, the "NORMAN ASTURIAS" to take me to Gijon in Spain. Photos taken on the 27th September 2011, the BRITTANY FERRIES "MONT ST MICHEL" can also be seen at her berth at Portsmouth, the ship that would bring me back to the UK one week later

AT SEA ON BOARD BRITTANY FERRIES "MONT ST MICHEL"

M/V "MONT ST MICHEL" operated by BF is one of the most beautiful cruise ferries in service, she was built in 2002 for the Caen/Portsmouth service, I have sailed on this ship many times, last time was last week on a perfect summer´s day, the ship was almost loaded to full capacity with a lot of passengers coming back to the UK at the end of their holidays, the interiors of the vessel are well decorated, featuring the most beautiful main shop on the fleet, as well as the most romantic main restaurant, aptly named "Les Romantiques" . BEAUTIFUL PORTSMOUTH MARITIME CITY

7am on the 24th June, I was at old Portsmouth awaiting for the NORMANDIE EXPRESS and the MONT ST MICHEL both BRITTANY FERRIES vessels, the weather was warm with glorious sunshine few places can match the beauty of Old Portsmouth, I just love the place, it´s of course a ships photographer`s paradise and there is always plenty of boats and ships to look forward, photos here included show Old Portsmouth and the NORMANDIE EXPRESS on her way to Caen, for more pics of the ship please click below on my BRITTANY FERRIES blog
