It's been some years now since last time I have traveled on the Hythe Ferry a service operated since the middle ages linking the city of Southampton to the village of Hythe, the Pier, known as Hythe Pier, is the World's oldest pier train, it was opened by George VI in 1881, ferry and train run every 30 minutes. My idea to take the ferry was to photograph the QUEEN MARY 2 berthed at the Queen Elizabeth II Terminal, the ferry passes really close to the ships en route and makes a unique opportunity to admire and photograph the cruise ships. CUNARD building at Liverpool ready for the QUEENS
The Legendary CUNARD Building at Liverpool looks splendid after an external makeover. This Historic "Monument" is associated with the story of the CUNARD LINE probably like no other place in the country. The Building looks immaculate ready for the next CUNARD ship's visit which will happen on the 3rd of August with the visit of the latest addition to the fleet, the QUEEN ELIZABETH. QE and the CUNARD flagship QM2 will return to the city of Liverpool next year. QM2 will be back in May while the QE has another visit scheduled for August, excellent news for Liverpool and for the many ships enthusiasts always keen to mark their presence when passenger ships visit the city of Liverpool. Sad day for CUNARD and Maritime History
CUNARD flagship was in Southampton yesterday for the last time as a British Merchant ship. QM2 will be registered in Bermuda as from the 1st of December, the ship left Southampton yesterday to Hamburg for a 14 days refit. 171 years of CUNARD ships having the RMS status simply vanished, sad chapter in Maritime History. Spectacular farewell to QM2
Last night Liverpool organized a wonderful send off for CUNARD flagship "QUEEN MARY 2", the CUNARD building was displaying footage of Company´s History with emphasis on the new QM2, the atmosphere was electric with onlookers and passengers on board singing, the fireworks started at 22.00 at Birkinhead, people standing at the cruise terminal didn´t have a great view because the ship is so big that the majority of the display was obstructed by the sheer size of QM2, still great entertainment, a proper send off from the city, there´s no place like Liverpool for CUNARD

Amazing "QUEEN MARY 2" in Liverpool
CUNARD flagship, the biggest liner have built, without a doubt so far the passenger ship of the XXI century is visiting Liverpool today, I went to New Brighton to photograph her on her way in and what a spectacle this was, an incredible beautiful moment even with the weather on our side, one of the sunniest days I have seen this year in the Liverpool area, the QM2 is already a legend, she was in fact born a legend, crowds turned up in their thousands to admire this majestic passenger liner, she is truly unique and what a privilege it is to be a ships enthusiast

THE FORMIDABLE "QUEEN MARY 2" FUNNEL
When I sailed on the QM2 back in 2006, the ship was using the BROOKLYN PASSENGER TERMINAL for the first time, our sending off was quite spectacular, for me the most memorable moment was the exchange of whistles between the ships, an unforgettable moment was the sound of the old QUEEN MARY whistle, of course today on board QM2
