"MALO SEAWAYS", new ferry on the Dover / Calais service

"MALO SEAWAYS" is the new DFDS ferry operating on the Dover to Calais service, she is named after Malo, located in the Dunkirk area in France, the ship was originally built in Japan by Mitsubishi Heavy Industry in Japan in 2000 as the EUROPEAN AMBASSADOR for P & O Irish Sea to be operated on the Liverpool to Dublin route, in 2004 she was sold to STENA LINA and renamed STENA NORDICA, she is now on charter with DFDS to replace the DIEPPE SEAWAYS. "MALO SEAWAYS" is 24.206 G.T. with capacity for about 400 passengers and 375 cars, she has been in service only for a week, last Sunday was my first trip on the ship, she is more of a freighter with very simple passenger amenities with very reasonable amounts of open deck spaces. "DIEPPE SEAWAYS" getting ready for her first crossing of the day

Today was my first crossing on the "DIEPPE SEAWAYS", I have sailed on the ship several times as the SEAFRANCE MOLIERE when she was operated by SEAFRANCE. After the collapse of this French Operator in January of 2012, the ship was laid-up for ten months, she resumed the Calais/Dover route on the 7.11.2012 since then operated by DFDS. The ship was built in 2002 as the SUPERFAST X. Photos taken today, 2.6.2013, the ship's first sailing of the day.

"DIEPPE SEAWAYS" is the latest addition to the DFDS fleet on the Dover/Calais service, the ship was originally built in 2002 for SUPERFAST FERRIES as the SUPERFAST X, in 2007 for a few months she became the JEAN NICOLI she was then transferred to SEAFRANCE and became SEAFRANCE MOLIERE. After the collapse of the French Operator, she was laid-up for a few months before joining DFDS in October of 2012, her maiden voyage as the "DIEPPE SEAWAYS" was on the 7.11.2012. This built for speed Cruise Ferry is 29.800 GRT and is capable of speeds over 30 knots.
