"CRUISE ROMA" departed Barcelona nearly two hours late, passengers didn't seem to be worried about this, typical example of people going on holiday, it was also Saturday night so the atmosphere was quite relaxed, my car was parked on deck number seven, where the reception is located together with the reclining seats zone, decks 7, 8 and 9 were nearly empty, even on deck 10, where the vast majority of the passenger facilities are located the ship was nearly empty, so where was everybody, the ship was sailing nearly fully booked, going one deck up looking for some outside space for the usual sail away process, I was amazed, everybody was on deck number 11, for a moment I forgot I was travelling on a ship designed for the MED, the amount of open space is huge, swimming-pool, bars, kennels all are located here, we all know especially at this time of the year in the MED temperature at night doesn't really drop that much, so deck number 11 on "CRUISE ROMA" was like being at Salou or any of the known holiday resorts Mediterranean style, with people chatting around the pool, enjoying drinks, ice creams and food from the bars and dog owners walking their pets and making sure they were kept comfortable, also music was playing so everybody making the most of the glorious weather and the ship's facilities, I have never seen such a huge amount of deck space available for passengers to enjoy, this is a major plus on this ship, the ship that comes close to such an amount of open space is BRITTANY FERRIES "CAP FINISTERE" which of course was designed for the MED, having said that, quite appropriately a lot of this space is enclosed, but the BF ship is no longer used in the MED of course. Also on deck number 11 at the stern of the ship is where the PLANETARIUM, the ship's disco is situated, a reasonable space covered by a crystal dome with a sky view and is open until 5 am. This is the second and last "post" of the ship underway, coming next, "the ship at sea", "passenger facilities", "arriving Sardinia" and "docking at Civitavecchia", the highs and lows of this great cruise ferry, all coming here soon.
