The Tagus is the longest river on the Iberian Peninsula with 1041 kms long, the river is vastly used throughout its course, providing drinking water to Central Spain, Madrid included and Portugal, the main cities it passes are in Spain, Aranjuez, Toledo and Talavera de La Reina, in Portugal the main cities are Abrantes, Santarem and Almada just south of Lisbon, at its mouth there's an estuary of sheer beauty, where the port of the city of Lisbon is situated.
