"INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS" off Calshot
Last Saturday was a busy day for the Southampton seaport with four cruise ships calling, the largest was the ROYAL CARIBBEAN "INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS" a mega ship that is using Southampton for her all year round European Itineraries, the ship is 154.407 GRT and was built by AKER in Finland in 2008, she is the last of the Freedom-Class ships and was the largest in the world when she first came into service, she was I must confess wonderful to watch with passengers and crew taking pictures of the many ship spotters at Calshot, also she was the only one to salute the many spectators and ship spotters present and that brings always a sense of emotion and appreciation, photos 3rd September 2011
